LINDA COOPER BENNING

My name is Linda Cooper Benning. Christ Church has been my spiritual home for over 60 years. As a Navy dependent and young adult there were years when I didn't physically attend Christ Church but my membership always remained here. Since 1980 I have been living in the San Diego area and attending church regularly.

During my 60 years as a member of Christ Church, I have sung in the choir both as a youth and an adult, was a lay reader and chalice bearer, served on the Vestry once before and served on the Calling Committee. Currently I am still singing in the choir and active in the Peace and Justice ministry.

Because of my long history with Christ Church, I feel I have a good understanding of our church and the community of Coronado. I taught English and Theatre at Coronado High School for 30 years and also graduated from CHS in 1967. I am very familiar with the challenges facing our church and city.

Currently I reside in Santee, but am remodeling my home in Coronado and will be moving back to Coronado when that work is completed.

I love Christ Church and want to be a faithful servant wherever I am called.

In Christ's Love,

Linda Cooper Benning

Bill Sandke

Bill Sandke has called Coronado home since 1966 and was a Kindergarten and First grade student at what was then Christ Church Parish School.  His father was a Naval Aviator and his mother was a Realtor and had 3 younger sisters.  He graduated from CHS in 1982 and UCLA in 1986.  A successful small business owner, Bill has owned Crown City Photography, now located at the Hotel del Coronado, since 1989.  He married his wife Tami 32 years ago in Christ Church, of course, with Rev. Walter Adelman presiding.  Both of their children are CCDS graduates and are successful living in the Boston area.  In 2010 he was a Chris Church Youth volunteer and shepherded a mission trip to Lima, Peru.  Bill is currently on the Vestry, chairs the Investment Committee and is the Vestry Rep on the CCDS School Board.  A former 2-term City Council Member, Bill is still active in civic and community issues.

In addition he has held leadership positions with the Coronado Rotary Club in 2006 and Coronado Yacht Club in 2017.  Bill is an FAA rated Private Pilot, a certified SCUBA diver and enjoys time aboard their 31 foot 1966 Chris Craft Commander "Claro que Sea".

Tim Wilks

My family and I have attended Christ Church for over a year. We have been renegotiating our theology as we transition from a different denomination. My wife, Lauri, and I have been married for 25 years and have two daughters. Our oldest, Clara, is a junior at Point Loma Nazarene University, and Nell is a senior at The Rock Academy.

Service has been integral to my professional career. I have been on active duty with the Navy for 23 years and have been stationed in North Carolina, Virginia, Okinawa, and Washington before coming to San Diego. Clinically, I am a developmental-behavioral pediatrician but I have spent most of my time in the last few years in executive medicine positions.

I am humbled to be asked to serve on the Christ Church Vestry. While new to the Episcopal Church, I have served in various church positions since my youth. Whether on committees, teaching, or even the choir, service has been an important expression of faith. I have served the past few months as an usher at Christ Church.

Veronica Worthington

I am a new Coronado resident but have lived in the San Diego area for over 30 years. I started attending Christ Church with my husband George over 20 years ago and have been so grateful for the friendships and fellowship I have received from everyone. I have worked in the non-profit area for over 30 years, mostly in fund development at both large organizations like the American Red Cross and smaller charities throughout the City.

I am interested in serving the Church that has served me so well and offered me comfort since my husband’s passing. I feel that I can provide some helpful insight regarding the many community programs that Christ Church is involved in and provide assistance in stewardship for the Church. I truly enjoy being a proud member of Christ Church and knowing the wonderful people involved.
