Dec. 17, 2019 The Episcopal Youth Event in Washington D.C.

This year’s Episcopal Youth Event will be held in Washington D.C. on the campus of University of Maryland, College Park. This global gathering of Episcopal Youth offers the opportunity to connect with other youth from your faith tradition. Together we will consider the ways that we are similar and find ways to celebrate our differences. This is a leadership conference, and is designed not only to enrich your faith, but to provide you access to workshops and information that will help you to be a better global citizen.

The Episcopal Youth Event is open to youth enrolled in high school for the 2019-2020 school year (ages 15-19).

The 2020 Episcopal Youth Event (EYE20) will focus on the theme Unite! based on Matthew 11:28-30 - “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves.

The estimated cost of EYE is $1,275. This cost includes EYE registration fees, airfare, meals and lodging. The cost for approved applicants would be divided into thirds with one third payable by the student, one third by their parish and the final third coming from The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. That would make the estimated youth cost $425.

Fundraising opportunities will be available for both youth. Youth who participate in fundraisers will split the funds equally. Youth who choose not to participate in fundraisers will not be eligible for scholarship assistance.

Applications and pre-registration opens on Thursday, 12/19 at noon! At that time, all you will need to do is pay a $50 deposit, complete your registration form, and request a nomination from your youth leader. All of those things can be completed through www.edsd.org/eye

Pre-registration will close on Monday,  January 6 at 4 p.m. Registration and applications will not be accepted after this time.

The selection committee will review applications and notify youth via email of their selection for the trip on Monday, January 13, 2020. We will be using the applications to determine youth who will most benefit from the trip, and represents as broad a section of our diocese as possible. Youth who are not selected will be refunded their application fee.

A couple of important notes:
*Applications are to be completed by the youth applicant. Parents, please assist with information that they need, but allow them to answer the questions on their own.

*Please request a nomination from your youth leader of priest as soon as you decide to apply. This will allow them plenty of time to complete the nomination form. The nomination form is available through the same link.

*EYE takes place every three years. That means, if you are an upperclassman, this will be your only opportunity to go. Please don't let this opportunity pass you by!
