July 16, 2020 Meet Betsy McKee - A member of the Christ Church Call Committee

Although it seems like a very long time since we’ve all seen one another, there is a group of fourteen Christ Church parishioners who have been meeting regularly since January, in an effort to discover who our next Rector will be. My name is Betsy McKee, and I am a member of the Search Committee, also referred to as the Call Committee.

My husband Russ and I have been attending Christ Church since 2009.  We have raised our four children in Coronado, having moved here in 1987.  I have served as a Vestry member, on the Hospitality Committee, and was a Service Ministry member for several years.  My new favorite role is that of grandmother, which joyfully occupies much of my time. In April we were blessed with the birth of our second grandchild, Julia, who joins her older brother, Jacob (pictured on his Baptism Day here at Christ Church last July).   Russ and I are so fortunate to have all four of our children living in the San Diego area.

We spend some time each year In beautiful Livingston, Montana, a great get away, when Coronado fills up, especially during the summer months!

My time as a member of the Call Committee has been a real eye opener. I had no idea how much work goes into the discernment process.  Led by our very capable co-chairs, Julie Young and Matt Rich, we meet via Zoom one to two times per week to discuss the candidates and conduct interviews as needed.  Although there are at times differing opinions among the group, there is nothing but respect for one another.  I have great admiration for this Call Committee, and am grateful to be a part of it.

Wishing you all wellness during these unprecedented times.
