March 31, 2020 Learn & Grow - Stone Soup
Hello Everyone - This post contains all of our formation resources for the week of 3/31/20. Today we explored the story of Stone Soup and how kindness and love make the world a better place. I recorded a video of the story for those of you who weren't with us on the call. Below the video are the resources for the week. Please take a few minutes to read them, and then get started on the fun!
Craft/Activity: Kindness Rocks - Gather a handful of rocks and paint them with colorful designs and kind messages. Once the rocks are dry, go on a walk and hide them along your route. If you know people who would especially like them, please wipe them with a lysol wipe and then leave them outside their door. Please email photos of your creations to Charlette, formation@christchurchcoronado.org ... and you creating them!
Make: Stone Soup! Here are the required ingredients: Large pot, very clean stone, 4 cups water (add more if neccessary), 3 large carrots, chopped, one large onion, chopped, 4 stalks of celery, chopped, 2 cups of vegetable or chicken broth. Add at least 4 of these other optional items: can of corn, potatoes, pasta, can of tomatoes, peas, spinach, can of beans (drained and rinsed), chopped chicken. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Enjoy with crusty bread!
Watch: This video is about kids at a school creating a Kindness Boomerang! After your family watches the video, talk about how kindness inspires kindness, then think about if you could create a kindness boomerang at home.
Family Check-in: Each day at the end of the day, take a few minutes to check-in as a family. How did you share God's Love today? Did you create Kindness Rocks? Help unload the dishwasher? Read to a younger sibling? We share God's love in hundreds of ways each day. Thinking about us helps us notice not only how we are sharing God's Love, but how others share it with us!
