Nov. 9, 2021 Important Announcement

Dear Christ Church Community,

It is with mixed emotions that the CCDS School Board has accepted Nancy Funk's intent to retire as Head of School at the end of this school year. While we are most grateful for Nancy's service and leadership to our School, we are excited for the new opportunities that lie ahead for Nancy and her family.

Nancy Funk has been a consummate and dedicated leader both as Head of School for 5 years and as a beloved 4th-grade teacher for 9 years. Her enormous spirit, enthusiasm, and love for the School, its teachers, students, and parents will be sorely missed. Nancy is a life-long Episcopalian who, along with her family, has also been a devoted participant in the Parish for many years. All of us look forward to Nancy's continued participation and service to Christ Church Coronado.

The Board of CCDS wants to take this opportunity to thank Nancy Funk for her many years of leadership and service to our School and to commend Nancy for her success in managing our School while dealing with the enormous demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nancy was incredible: securing emergency funds, providing in-service training for teachers online learning, communicating with parents and students on Zoom, and all while creating a safe environment for our students to return to as conditions permit.

Nancy will continue in her role as Head of School through the end of the 2021-2022 school year and plans to share the news with students next week during chapel. The CCDS School Board will soon form a search committee to hire a new Head of School. This committee will include members of the Vestry, School Board, teachers, and parents.

We will truly miss you, Nancy, and wish you, John, and your family all the best. All interested are encouraged to read Nancy's retirement letter here.

Sincerely,
Joanie Huck
CCDS School Board President
