July 29, 2019 Backpacks are Packed and Sent with Love!
Thank you, thank you to everyone who so lovingly supported our backpack drive! The packs were loaded into cars this week and delivered to their destinations, just waiting for school to start so they can be handed out to children in need all over San Diego County, including some of our enlisted military families right here in Coronado.
Thanks to you, we surpassed our $5000 goal! We were able to recoup our 2019 expenses (we have to buy the packs before the drive starts!) and have a little head start for 2020! This year, we were able to give 202 filled backpacks plus the equivalent of 62 packs to St. Mark's and 31 to St. John's for a grand total of 295 backpacks! A new record!
This was one of Reverend Anne's favorite annual events, so going forward it will be known as The Bridgers Backpack Drive in her honor.
Happy retirement Reverend Anne. Your commitment to service and the love you so freely shared with the world, will always be remembered at Christ Church!
