Nov. 27, 2018 Advent Forums- The Land of Jesus’ Birth
And the WORD became flesh and dwelled among us… A three week series of scripture, prayer and reflection enhanced by photographs and images from our rector’s recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
December 9 ~ Wade in the Water: The Sea of Galilee is a harp-shaped fresh water lake in the district of Galilee in northern Palestine. Mentioned many times throughout the Gospels, this region was familiar to Jesus, his family and his disciples. We will “walk along” the shores of Galilee with an eye towards the horizon as Jesus himself must have surely done.
December 16 ~ The Silent Years: A Home in Nazareth We spend time in the town of Jesus’ early life where as scripture tells us , “The child grew and became strong… full of wisdom and God’s blessings were upon him.” A side trip to Sepphoris, about three miles northwest of Nazareth to catch a glimpse of the “Mona Lisa of Galilee”.
December 23 ~ O Little Town of Bethlehem: A visit to the Judean hill town of Ein Kerem to remember the Visitation by the Angel Gabriel to a young Mary. The site known as the Basilica of the Nativity of Bethlehem as well as a glimpse of the Hafrada Wall (Wall of Separation) along the West Bank of Israel.
