Christ Church Bible Study

Wednesday, August 18, 2021 Christ Church Bible Study

All Are Welcome to the New Christ Church Bible Study!

The Sunday Lectionary covers only a small portion of the Bible.  The goal of the new Christ Church Bible Study is to read and discuss the entire Bible in an all-inclusive, small group setting.  Eager for the rest of the story?  Please join us each Wednesday evening from 5:30 - 6:30 PM!  The first set of readings, which we will discuss at our first meeting, is Genesis chapters 1-7, and Psalm 1.  We recommend using a study Bible, and we welcome various translations.  Each has its own special insights.
Meetings will begin with a Collect and a reading of the assigned Psalm.  The bulk of the time will be an open discussion, prompted by study questions from various Bibles, book and chapter introductions, published commentary, and most importantly, your thoughts.  We'll end by assigning the readings for the following week (we intend to follow a three-year plan provided in one of our study Bibles) and offering a closing prayer.  Of course, the format may evolve once we get going.
We will meet in the courtyard at Christ Church - 5:30 pm!
"The earth was without form and void
and darkness was on the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness."
-Genesis 1:2-4
The three of us are super excited and can't wait to get started!
