Jan. 29, 2018 Introducing Service Sundays!

For many years at Christ Church, we’ve done a Day of Service event in early December where we invite parishioners to stay after church one Sunday and take part in a number of opportunities to help others. Folks could choose to sew baby blankets for refugee families, or deliver hot soup to our homeless brothers and sisters across the bridge, or wrap holiday gifts for Head Start kids, or clean up our Day School garden, among other offerings.

But our parish is so giving in nature that a single Day of Service just didn’t seem to be enough. In 2018, we’ll be hosting several Service Sundays throughout the year where folks can stay after church for a few minutes and join fellow parishioners on a project to help others.

Our first Service Sunday will be held on March 4. Stay after church that day and write an Easter card—or two, or three—to an inmate at a local correctional facility. To someone who feels little hope, getting a note of encouragement and love from a stranger can be lifechanging. Someone cares! They are not forgotten!

Come to Hinde Hall after either service on March 4 and participate in our first Service Sunday of 2018. All the supplies you need will be on hand and there will be mentors with tips on what to write. It’s easy! We’ll have a separate activity for kids, so bring them along! Send a joyous Easter wish to someone who could really use it!
