Jan. 20, 2021 Choose Kindness - The Great Kindness Challenge 2021

This coming week, January 25-29, 2021, Christ Church Day School will participate in The Great Kindness Challenge. For the last four years, we have joined with schools all over the world to celebrate and spread kindness. Each year, we have completed more acts of kindness than the year before. This year, we are changing our focus from amounts of kind acts, to intentional kindness. We are Choosing Kindness this year. As a school community, we will Choose Kindness each and every day; kindness for our families, kindness for the world outside our gates and over the bridge, kindness for the community that surrounds us, kindness for ourselves, kindness for our teachers who love, support, and guide us each day.

One of the things that always occurs during The Great Kindness Challenge is our annual Spaghetti Dinner benefiting the food pantry at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in City Heights. This year we will not be able to gather in Hinde Hall together, but we have found a creative way to continue this fun celebration! On Tuesday, January 26, order any medium or large "House Pasta Plate" from Island Pasta to go and the restaurant will donate 20% of your purchase price to St Mark's Pantry! Just mention Christ Church or Christ Church Day School when you place your order (619-435-4545). We are also hoping to help stock the pantry that day by collecting canned food at school!

Wednesday, January 27, the students are encouraged to create chalk kindness messages in front of their houses. The students will be bringing it home with them on Tuesday at the end of the day. It is our hope that a rainbow of kindness will brighten spots all over our community.

Below are the daily Choose Kindness activities that Christ Church Day School will complete this year. Perhaps one or two of them will speak to you and you can complete your own kindness challenge this year. Choosing Kindness each and every day, is a wonderful practice for us all.
