Aug. 6, 2018 Backpack Blessings!

This year’s backpack drive was a smashing success! Our generous parishioners exceeded our $4000 goal in just two weeks! With these funds we were able to purchase 150 elementary and middle school/high school filled with school supplies and also to donate the equivalent of 66 filled backpacks to St Mark’s City Heights for their Back to School Bash event, as well as 33 filled backpacks to St John’s Fallbrook for their backpack drive. Individual Christ Church parishioners also lovingly purchased and filled backpacks for this effort.

Our 160 filled backpacks decorated the sanctuary on Sunday, August 5, and were blessed at both services. After church, they were loaded into one stuffed Subaru for delivery to North County Lifeline, a nonprofit that will put the packs into the hands of children in need in Vista and Oceanside. So many students will start the year off right thanks to Christ Church parishioners!

If you’d like to volunteer at St Mark’s Back to School Bash event and help distribute backpacks to over 200 children, please contact Fr. Richard Lee. The Back to School Bash will be held at St Mark’s on Saturday, August 25th from 9 am to 1 pm. There will be several shifts of volunteers scheduled, so you don’t need to be able to serve the entire time.
