Pony Express 2012
Once again, for this year's Stewardship Campaign, we're using the Pony Express program. It was so successful last year we thought we'd try it again! The kick-off will be Sunday, October 16, 2011.
The Pony Express method, used successfully in thousands of other churches nationwide, is styled after the famous Pony Express mail relay system. It relies heavily on team work.
Parishioners, Rob and Mary Taylor are once again heading the campaign as General Managers. Under their guidance will be Station Agents, each supervising Trail Bosses. Each Trail Boss will oversee a neighborhood Pony Express Route composed of 10-12 homes. Each family household will be asked to be a Route Rider, relaying a Saddlebag to a nearby family.
You will receive the saddlebag containg stewardship reading material and your "Estimate of Giving" card. After reading the material, please fill in your card, seal it in an envelope, and insert the envelope in the saddlebag. Then, take the bag to the next family on your Route List attached to the bag strap and let your Trail Boss know that the bag has moved along the trail. The Trail Boss's name/phone/email will be #1 on the Route List.
You will be able to make your decision about your giving to God through Christ Church in the privacy of your home, without another member of the church present to solicit your response.
If you expect to be away during the Pony Express run (October 16-November 6) or wish not to be on a Pony Express "trail", please call the parish office at 453-4561.
The Pony Express theme was chosen because of the example set by the highly dedicated riders of the original Pony Express. In addition to their personal commitment, the secret of their success lay in their ability to work as a team - each rider dependent on the other to make the relay system work and speed the mail on to its next destination.
Likewise, the success of Christ Church depends on the dedication, committment, and teamwork of each of you. Thank you for your participation in our church's ministry to our larger community.
