About the Vestry
General Duties of the Vestry
The Vestry (Board of Directors) consists of twelve elected lay leaders of the Parish and the Rector. They shall set the example for the rest of the Parish by their attendance at worship, attendance at special events of the Parish and Day School and through their financial support of the Parish. Vestry member terms are for three years.
Members of the Vestry are responsible for managing financial resources and helping to develop, promote and execute the program elements of the life of the parish. As volunteers, vestry members do not supervise church staff members.
Qualifications of the Members of the Vestry
Identifying and selecting candidates to serve on the Vestry are very important responsibilities of our faith community. To be eligible for nomination, a candidate must be an “Eligible Elector”; this is a baptized member of the Parish, over 18 years old, who is a regular financial contributor and who has received Holy Communion at least three times at this Parish in the preceding year. No one shall be nominated unless he or she signifies willingness to accept the office if elected. Vestry members appointed or elected to serve a partial term are eligible for election to a full term after their term expires.
A Nominating Committee is formed in the fall, in accordance with the Church By-Laws, to seek nominations. Nominating forms are available from the Nominating Committee and from the Church Office. Nominations must be delivered to a member of the Nominating Committee or Parish Administrator.
