April 5, 2018 We are an Easter People

Wait- what? Easter is not over?

Even though the peeps and jelly beans are half price and we’ve vacuumed up the Easter grass and made pounds of slightly discolored egg salad --- Easter is not over! Easter Day is the first day of the Great Fifty Days of Eastertide so the “Alleluias” and the joyful celebration continue until the Day of Pentecost on Sunday, May 20. During our Sunday morning worship we will sing a jubilant Alleluia before we hear the gospel proclaimed. The sound of bongo drums and tambourines add gusto as our voices fill the space with grateful praise that the Lord is Risen, the Lord is Risen indeed!

Yes, the alleluias have returned these Great Fifty Days as we embrace the gift of Christ’s Resurrection. As Easter people we well know that living into the gift of the promise of new life is never exhausted- but to intentionally practice for fifty days is a great way to start! I invite you to join this merry throng at the corner of Ninth and C as live and learn, laugh and pray our way through these Great fifty Days--- and beyond.

The Lord is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed! Alleluia!
