Oct. 2, 2017 Pet Blessing, Sunday, October 8th
Animals play an important role in our lives. Many of us have a deep connection to animals that mean much more to us than the word “pets” can describe. They are members of our family and we love them, but probably never more than they love us. The love we give to a pet, and receive from a pet, can draw us more deeply into the larger circle of life. The bond between person and pet is like no other relationship, because the communication between fellow creatures is at its most basic. It’s no wonder people enjoy taking their animal companions to church for a blessing. Church is the place where the bond of creation is celebrated.
In celebration of the Feast of St. Francis, Christ Church Coronado will bless all the animals in our lives on Sunday, October 8 during our 10:00 a.m. service. We invite everyone to join us and bring your pets to church; it’s going to be fun and chaotic. If you and your pet need a break there will be comfort stations in the courtyard and live stream of the service in the parish hall where there is plenty of room to move around. After the service we will have a hot dog luncheon with food and treats for all!
