Nov. 15, 2017 Advent Offerings

Keeping a Holy Advent is the best possible way to make room in our hearts for the birth of our Lord Jesus. In what can be a hectic season, Christ Church offers several opportunities to step away from the frantic and into a deeper connection to the reason we all prepare.

Prepare Him Room - Wednesday, November 29, 2017 - 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Please join us for a potluck supper in Hinde Hall. After that time of fellowship, we will make our Prepare Him Room Crates. These crates are your guide to  a spiritual and connected Advent. Each crate will contain opportunities for prayer, compassion, creativity, and connection. This evening is perfect for all ages. Please come as a family, or on your own. We are excited to welcome you into a Holy Advent, where together, we will truly, Prepare Him Room.

Please R.S.V.P. to Charlette Preslar, dre@christchurchcoronado.org. An R.S.V.P is required for this event, as there are many supplies to complete the crates, and we want to ensure we have enough for everyone. Additionally, a $15 contribution per family is requested. Please contact the church office if you need financial assistance. The program will finish by 7 P.M.

For the potluck please bring a dish based upon the following categories:

Last names A-I – Salad or Side Dish

Last names J-R – Main Dish

Last names S-Z – Dessert

Advent Wreath Making - Sunday, December 3, 2017 - 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Join us in Hinde Hall to make an Advent Wreath for your home. We will provide the forms, candles, greens, and pins. You provide the creativity and joy.

An Evening with Mark - Wednesday. December 6, 2017 - 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Join us as we begin the holy season of Advent by gathering to read the Gospel of Mark in one evening. Why? Because the church's new year begins on the first Sunday of Advent and focuses on this gospel, the very first one recorded.

So this year give yourself a gift! Leave the shopping frenzy behind and gather at the church for a chili supper and an incredible evening like no other. We want to make certain we have enough chili for everyone, so please RSVP by calling the parish office at (619) 435-4561 or email The Reverend Anne Bridgers.

Lessons and Carols - Sunday, December 10, 2017 - 4:00 p.m.

The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus are told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with the singing of Christmas carols, hymns and choir music in a lovely service reminiscent of the annual King's College, Cambridge England service of Lessons and Carols. A reception follows with wassail and English shortbread. Please plan to join us and bring a friend.

Lighten Our Darkness, O Lord - Wednesday, December 13, 2017 - 7:00 pm

A simple candlelit service of evening prayer and quiet time of reflection within the walls of this beautiful historic church.  Prayers for the whole human family and time for remembrance for those whom we love but see no longer will be offered. We will depart with candles as we scatter the darkness with the Light and Love of Christ!  Labyrinth will also be candle lit and available for meditation before and after the service.
